50 YILLIK ODTÜ ETKİSİ

1956'da büyük hedeflerle kuruldu.
Elli yıldır ülkenin umudu onunla yükseldi, hep kendi ile yarıştı ve başarılara koştu ODTÜ.

Anadolu bozkırını ormana çevirirken, ülkenin de orman gibi zenginleşeceğine inandı.

Gün geldi, ülkenin gündemini belirledi ODTÜlü. Görevden kaçmadı.
Bilgi ve becerileri ile her zaman yenilikçi ve öncü oldu, ülke yararına çağın gereğini ve inandığını yaptı.
İnsanımız da inandı ODTÜ'ye ve bu inanç ülkenin geleceğine olan güveni hep taze tuttu.

Toplumda yaşananlar, inişler-çıkışlar ODTÜlüleri güçlendirdi, ODTÜ kimliğini pekiştirdi.
Kampusta yeşeren ODTÜ değerleri zamanla ODTÜ geleneğine dönüştü.
Atatürk ilkelerinden, devrimci ruhundan hiç ödün vermedi ODTÜ.

İşinde her zaman en iyi oldu, ileri düzeyde bilgi üretti ve küresel eğitim standartlarından vaz geçmedi.
Eğitim sistemi ile örnek oldu. Kampus ortamının çok sesliliğini, üretme heyecanını yaşadı nesiller.
Aydın ve yaratıcı 80 000 mezunu ile kurumlara lider, üniversitelere öğretim üyesi yetiştirdi, ülkenin geleceğini şekillendirdi ODTÜ.

Gün geldi, teknolojik yetkinlik ulusların kaderini belirledi; ODTÜ yine önde idi.
Ülkeyi önce bilgisayar, sonra internet ile tanıştırdı. İlk teknoparkı kurdu.

Ankara'da yeşerdi, bu toprakların değerlerini bünyesinde topladı ve yaptıkları ile toplum üzerindeki etkisini aksatmadan sürdürdü ODTÜ.
Toplumsal sorumluluk bilincini hep canlı tuttu.
Elli yıl boyunca ülke gündemini etkiledi, topluma güven verdi..
Cumhuriyetimizin en önemli projelerinden biri olarak tarihte yerini aldı.

Ülkemiz seninle güçlenecek, toplumumuz seninle aydınlanacak.

METU: FIFTY YEARS OF IMPACT

Founded in 1956 with lofty objectives.
For the past half-century Turkey's aspirations have risen as METU has grown: always seeking to surpass itself and to excel in all ways.
As METU changed the steppe-land of its campus to a luxuriant forest, it was strong in its belief that one day the entire country would similarly develop.

The METU community: at the forefront of those setting the agenda for the country, never shirking its responsibilities.
With their knowledge and skills, the members of the METU community have been innovators and pacesetters, putting their ideals into practice for the good of the country, in accord with the demands of the age.
Our fellow citizens have always had faith in METU and this faith has constantly contributed to their confidence in the future of the country.

The many experiences that our country has been through, with their ups and downs, have served to strengthen the METU community and reinforce the METU identity.
The values which flourished on the METU campus eventually dveloped into the METU tradition.
METU: always faithful to the principles of Atatürk, always uncompromisingly holding fast to its revolutionary spirit.

Never settling for being second-best, METU has made outstanding contributions to the store of human knowledge and adhered to the highest international standards of education.

METU's educational system: a model for others to emulate. Generations have experienced the intense intellectual activity generated by the exchange of ideas on the METU campus and the excitement of creativity and productivity.
With some 80,000 talented, enlightened graduates, METU has educated leaders who have taken up positions in numerous institutions, and faculty members for numerous universities, giving direction to the future of the country.

When the realization was reached that technological accomplishment determines the fate of nations, METU took its place at the forefront.
It was METU that introduced the country to the computer and later, to the internet. The METU campus, too, was the site of the country's first technopark.

METU has flourished in Ankara, collecting the country's finest minds and talents, and had a continuous impact on society thanks to its accomplishments.
Always aware of its social responsibility, METU has influenced the country's agenda for the past fifty years and inspired society's confidence.
As one of the most important projects of the Turkish Republic, METU has taken its place in history.

Experienced in years, but youthful in spirit, may METU celebrate many more such anniversaries and continue to contribute to the development of our country and the enlightenment of our people!
